Income Tax officers raid Tamil Nadu leader secretary Rama Mohan Rao's house 1

CHENNAI: Earnings Tax research wing officers on Wednesday a launched a seek and survey operation on 13 premises belonging to Tamil Nadu leader secretary P Rama Mohan Rao, his son, household and friends in Chennai, Bangalore and Chittoor over allegations of corruption.

Earnings Tax officers instructed TOI that the raids began at the chief secretary’s house in Anna Nagar here at five.30am. More than 20 officers from the Profits Tax research wing are engaging in the raids at his house. They stated the raids had been carried out in connection with his alleged links with sand mining baron J Shekar Reddy and others.

Currently, raids have been conducted at the premises of Shekar Reddy and his brother Srinivasasalu in Chennai and Vellore. Income tax officers seized Rs 136 crore in vintage and new currency notes and gold worth Rs 177 crore from the duo. CBI and Enforcement Directorate registered cases against Shekhar Reddy and others for alleged money laundering.
